The Shotgun Shack Kitties were created by author A.N.Stewart who is a writer, cat lady, and business owner from Southeast Louisiana. The first story in this series of books is one of many stories she made up during Jazz Fest about ten years ago and continued telling to entertain some friend’s children. She is a consummate storyteller and loves to share stories of all kinds to all ages. All of the characters in this series are inspired by her own cats, neighborhood, teachers, and musicians she knows. The stories show her love of all of the best parts of New Orleans. This series was created as a form of respite during the height of the pandemic as she was caring for her father and some people in her community while living in her shotgun house with too many kitties here in New Orleans. We hope you all enjoy the worlds and stories she created and shares.

New Orleans illustrator Virginia de Mahy lives in the French Quarter and loves cats, New Orleans architecture, and all things Louisiana. She captured the characters and personalities beautifully from the pictures and descriptions given to her by Stewart. Together these two brought the stories to life.
